Day out at Nikki Beach

Koh Samui, Thailand

Our hosts at Baan Sijan Hotel, Simon and Janya recommended we visit Nikki Beach, and we are so glad they did, and have now visited 3 times.

Called the “Sexiest Place on Earth,” by The London Observer, Nikki Beach continues to make its mark in the hottest addresses and trendsetting locales worldwide. There are 12 around the world and Nikki Beach in Koh Samui Thailand can be found overlooking Lipa Noi beach just outside of Nathon.  It is open 11am – 11pm and the beach club and restaurant at Nikki Beach Resort has become known for it’s cuisine, cocktails, and VIP experience, and most famously for its Sunday Brunch.

We were a little unsure the first time we visited, and initially felt a little out of place, however these feelings soon disappeared. It is free to go in, and you can use the facilities, however there is an expectation that you purchase something from the bar or restaurant.  It certainly has the WOW factor, you are met by a member of staff who will ask you which bed you would like to use.

The Pool and Sunbeds at Nikki Beach

A bed by the edge of the pool is convenient for jumping in and out of the pool but also close to the speakers, and the music can get a bit loud.  We prefer the beds towards the beach which are quieter and a great place to watch the sun go down.

Comfortable beds at Nikki Beach

The sunbeds are the most comfortable double beds we have ever experienced and pillows and towels are provided.  The pool is amazing with a DJ booth belting out some great tunes.  A saxophonist also performs for most of the day, which adds a great vibe to the place.

Food at Nikki Beach

We had lunch there which was superb, a new york steak sandwich, served with caramelised onions, tomatoes, cheddar and red wine jus (we do love a bit of gravy!) and a spicy thai shrimp soup. The sandwich was 380 baht (just under £8) and the soup 250 baht (approx £5), expensive in thai terms but not in Nikki Beach terms, standard of food was excellent and worth every penny.

Service at Nikki Beach

The staff are very attentive, bringing round ice cold towels to cool you down regularly.  The service was excellent but persistent, the only gripe we had was that we did find them a little intrusive at times. They would ask approximately every 15 minutes if you wanted anything which after a while we found a little annoying, we would of preferred to just ask when we were ready.

Refreshments

Drinks at Nikki Beach

Drinks are expensive, small bottle of Singha was 180 baht (just under £4), wine was 380 baht (nearly £8) a glass, and a bottle of 75cl Evian water is 250 baht (£5). You are obviously paying for the lovely environment and experience so all in all to be expected.

One of our favourite times of the day is when the sun goes down, and this really is a great spot for enjoying the spectacular sunsets!

  8. I’ve never heard of Nikki Beach before, but I am dying to visit now! The sunbeds look 100x better than laying out on the beach chairs that most resorts provide. And how lovely that you were able to experience some nice live music by the saxophonist! Every beach pool/bar should have a live saxophone or other instrument 🙂

  9. Fantastic! Nikki Beach Koh Samui looks amazing. I have been to Koh Samui which is a nice and relaxing Island and my next trip over I will definitely stay there. I will pin this for later. Great photos and thanks for sharing 🙂 #feetdotravel

    • It is a fab place to spend the day, or stay for a couple of nights but quite remote if you are after nightlife. We love our days out here, and no doubt will return when we are next in Koh Samui.

  10. My, oh my! Doesn’t this place look nice!?!? This is right up my alley! Must visit here sometime!!

  13. Anisa says:

You guys really know how to live it up. I have been to the Nikki Beach in Miami, but honestly this one sounds even better. I will have to check it out next time I am in Thailand.

  14. Ruth says:

Looks fantastic! I really like when places like this let you go in and use the facilities. Of course, they are expecting for you to buy something but I think it is a given you are going to consume if you are planning to be the day there. Haven’t been to a cool place like this in a long time. #TheWeeklyPostcard

  15. Oana says:

I haven’t heard of Nikki Beach before but it looks fabulous. With the cold weather from London, I wish I could lay on the sunbed on a beach in Thailand, no matter which one. Thank you for sharing.

  16. Garth says:

Looks like a wonderful place to relax in Koh Samui. I didn’t get to relax on Koh Samui as I was too busy riding a bike around the island! It does look like a great way to spend a few days!

  21. We have a Nikki Beach in Miami too! The food wasn’t too expensive considering it was in Nikki Beach but it is expensive in Thai terms, like you said. An attentive staff can be nice in the beginning but I agree that at some point it becomes too much.

Nikki Beach is in Dubai too and not the least expensive place to hang out 🙂 They do go all out with service and comfort, though so it’s to be expected. Once in a while is lovely and I’m definitely going to try Nikki Beach Koh Samui! 🙂

Sunbed? Yes please! If I would lie down on one of those, I don’t think I would get up anytime soon ^_^

The beaches and hospitality in Thailand are some of the best around. I always love slipping away from the hustle of Bangkok and slipping away to a nice beach to relax for a few weeks. Can’t wait until my next trip to Thailand.

Nikki Beach looks like the complete package, beach, pools and comfy lounges. Definitely paying for the experience at those prices but looks like its worth it. Seems like a perfect place to watch the sun set.
