Our weekend staying at the Riverside Caravan Park, Stratford-upon-Avon, England

Riverside caravan park

This was our first time staying at the Riverside Caravan Park near Stratford-upon-Avon. We were looking forward to spending sometime in Warwickshire, a county in England that we had not visited before. Our friends Dick and Sal had stayed here previously and invited us to join them for 2 nights.

Checking in

Checking in was very smooth. The gentleman at reception was very friendly, and gave us all the information we needed. We had paid a £25 deposit on booking and paid the balance by card, they also accept cash payments. We were also given a 10% voucher to be used in the onsite bar and restaurant. We were then asked to wait in the holding bay for a man called Gary, he arrived promptly in his golf cart and introduced us to the park and the facilities, he was really helpful and we followed him to our pitch. We had a pitch with hook up which cost £23 per night. The pitches were well spaced and even though the campsite was busy, there was plenty of space.

The campsite had a very relaxed feel to it and being by the river there was a selection of wildlife that wandered past your camper which was lovely to see!

Good toilet and shower facilities on site, which were well maintained and clean. Water was easily available and disposable points for grey water and waste. There was even a dog wash, something we had never come across before!

The onsite bar and restaurant was very impressive, with the bonus of 10% off for all guests on beer and food. Seating was available inside and out with views over the river.

On the Friday evening we shared a Seafood Platter that was excellent. They cater for all ages with crazy golf available under the building and entertainment in the evenings, including live music and a disco.

The Riverside Caravan Park is in an excellent location, situated on Tiddington Road. If you turn left out of the entrance, it is a 5 minute walk to the village of Tiddington or if you turn right and walk towards Stratford it takes about 20 minutes. If you don’t fancy the walk, there is a river taxi which goes every hour on Fridays and every 1/2 an hour on weekends until 5pm and costs £2 each way. A conventional road taxi to Stratford only takes 5 minutes and costs £6.

In the village of Tiddington, there is a pub, The Crown, an Indian and a Chinese restaurant and also a Tapas Bar.

We chose to eat at Connolly’s Tapas Bar on the Saturday night and we were not disappointed, excellent food and great service.  You can read our review here.

We had a great day wandering around Stratford-upon-Avon it is a very picturesque town. Plenty of history and we were lucky enough to meet the main man himself, William Shakespeare!

It is the home to the famous Royal Shakespeare Company, plenty to see and do including tours and the building contains plenty of refreshment areas including a rooftop restaurant and cocktail bar.

Getting to the Riverside Caravan Park

We found the Riverside Caravan Park easily coming from Gloucester, the address is Tiddington Road, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, CV37 7AB.

We visited in October the weather was cold but clear, the sunset and mist over the river was a delight to see.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Riverside Caravan Park, and would recommend a stay here. We were very impressed with the facilities and it is in a fantastic location.

Riverside Caravan Park is open from the 25th March until the 1st November every year. The bar and restaurant is open all year round.
