Paul and Carole’s Cruise News

26th November 2018

Our cruise news today focuses on Celebrity, Carnival and our current favourite Marella Cruises!

Celebrity Cruises

I have a fondness for Celebrity Cruises as I worked as a nurse many moons ago and it is amazing to see how their ships have developed since my time on the SS Meridian and MV Horizon.

Celebrity Edge, their newest ship has officially arrived in it’s home port of Fort Lauderdale in Florida. This innovative ship has the first Magic Carpet at sea. This floating platform which is the size of a tennis court, reaches heights of 13 decks above sea level, with seating, a bar and space for live music it looks an amazing venue. Cruises are available from Southampton in May before it sails to the Mediterranean in June.

The second Edge Class ship, the Celebrity Apex, will be sailing from Southampton in 2020 and cruises go on sale from 29 November 2018 and with Celebrity Silhouette also returning to Southampton for her third consecutive year it is exciting that these ships will be sailing from the UK. More information about the Celebrity ships can be found here.

Carnival Cruises

Carnival Cruise Line looks a lot of fun! We have yet to try them as they cruise predominantly out of the US, however in 2020 Carnival Radiance will be coming to Europe. Following a $200 million dry dock that will take place in Cadiz, Carnival Radiance will debut April 29 with a 10 day cruise from Barcelona.

This ship will also be debuting basketball legend Shaquille Oneal’s Big Chicken restaurant where you can have all varieties of chicken for breakfast, lunch and dinner, all included in the price!

Marella Cruises

November has seen dry docks and refurbishments for both the Marella Celebration and Dream cruise ships. USB ports have been added to both coffee ports and the majority of lounges have had re holstering and makeover’s.

Marella Dream Cruise Ship

Chris Hackney, managing director of Marella Cruises, said: “We are excited to continue developing two of our much-loved ships, Marella Dream and Marella Celebration, as we offer our customers more choice and more variety. While modernising our current fleet we’re also really looking forward to the introduction of our first ever adults-only ship, Marella Explorer 2, launching in spring [2019].”

If you have been following us for a while now you will know we are big Marella fans and have already got our eyes on cruising on the Explorer in 2019!
