5 things to do in Ao Nang, Krabi, Thailand
We have now been to Ao Nang in the Krabi Province, Thailand 4 times. It is a great place in it self, but also the gateway to the many beautiful islands in the Andaman Sea. In this post we show you 5 things that you can do in Aonang.
Here are 5 things to do if you are heading to Ao Nang –
Sunsets in Ao Nang
We have seen the best sunsets ever here, get yourself sat on the beach or in one of the bars along the sea front and you will not be disappointed. Our particular favourite is The Last Fisherman’s Bar which is at the left hand end of the beach as you are looking out to sea. You can guarantee the sun will go down between 6pm and 7pm everyday and it is a delight to see.
Hop on a longtail boat in Ao Nang
Get on a long tail boat and head round the corner and visit the beautiful beaches of Tonsai, Railay and Phra nang, a great way to spend the day. Tickets are available from kiosks at each end of the beach, we paid 200 baht (£4) for a return trip to Railay. Boats go regularly throughout the day.
Cycling tour
Another thing to do is a 1/2 day Koh Klang culture cycling tour with Krabi Eco Cycle. It was a really enjoyable tour, it was fascinating and educational. We had the tour guide all to ourselves which was a real bonus. We covered 12 miles and the area was very flat so suitable for beginners. They have other tours you can chose to explore the area. It was a great day out and value for money.
Food in Ao Nang
If you follow the beach road to the right (if you are looking at the beach) you will come to Norpharrat beach. Here is a restaurant called Luna Restaurant, fantastic food at cheap prices, great service and a superb place to enjoy the local thai tipple Sangsom whilst watching the sun go down.
Sport and Live Music in Ao Nang
If you like live music there is a great bar called the Boogie Bar on walking street, to find it walk on the beach road to the right as looking at the sea and you will come across walking street. We had some really great nights in here, with very talented musicians, and staff that were great fun.
Paul is a big sports fan, and wherever we go in the world, we have to find the nearest sports bar, to keep up to date with the Spurs football and Gloucester rugby scores. Time difference (7 hours in front of UK time) can sometimes be a problem, however, we found O’Malley’s sports bar on our first visit and have been back many times since. It has multiple screens so shows the majority of the premiership games. So if it’s sport your after O’Malleys is the place to be!
