Housesitting with Harvey and Red
Housesitting with Harvey and Red
We had previously looked after Harvey for a week last year and really enjoyed it, so we were chuffed to bits to be asked back. Since this time there has been a new addition to the family in the form of Red. We were excited to be housesitting with Harvey and Red for two weeks.
The Pets
Harvey is 10 years old and such a lovely dog, so easy to care for and has the most wonderful, kind temperament. He enjoyed lots of fuss and would snuggle up to your leg at every opportunity.
Red is only 1 years old and a playful tigger character, who has been great fun to look after but could be challenging at times. He has so much energy, has a really amusing character, and would be very jealous of any attention we gave Harvey.
Red loved lots of fuss and really enjoyed dancing around the kitchen with Paul!
Both dogs loved having company, got so excited to see us in the mornings and when we had popped out. We had some wonderful walks with them and great fun playing in the garden.
The Property
We were lucky to have the opportunity to stay in a beautiful Cotswold stone detached house with extensive gardens and orchard. The house has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, and we had the use of a spacious bedroom with ensuite. It was a large house, very homely and comfortable with a great country kitchen with Aga and all the mod cons. It was great to have the option of sitting in a quiet snug area to read or in the large TV lounge. We both agreed we could definitely live here!
The Location
In the village of Edge in the Painswick parish of the Cotswolds. Only 15 minutes away from Gloucester, Stroud and Cheltenham so perfectly placed.
We loved how peaceful it was to sit in the garden, we live in the city of Gloucester and you get so used to city noise, here, it is just silence apart from the odd bird noise or Red talking to himself!!
Exploring the area we found a great pub called the Edgemoor Inn where we had Sunday lunch, you can read our review here.
Housesitting with Harvey and Red was a pleasure as we could just walk out the back gate down the lane and join the Cotswold Way. We could walk up through the meadows to Painswick or in the other direction through the woods to Haresfield Beacon. It really is a beautiful part of the world. You can read our post about Painswick here.
We have loved housesitting with Harvey and Red and hope that we will be able to repeat this again in the future!
References from Harvey and Red’s owners –
2015 – This is the second time that Carole and Paul have house sat for us and again we couldn’t fault the care they have taken of our home and 2 dogs. They are reliable and organised and our home was immaculate on our return. They took exceptional care of the dogs and were extremely responsible, particularly as we have a young and very boisterous puppy with endless energy and naughty tricks!
I would have no hesitation in recommending Carole and Paul to house sit or take care of your pets.2014 – We were very happy leaving our house and nine year old Irish setter with Carole and Paul who made us feel confident that our much loved pet and house were in good hands. Living in an older house in the country there was a lot to remember but Carole and Paul managed without any problem for which we were grateful. On our return home everything was cleaner and tidier than before we left and our dog had been well cared for. We would have no hesitation in recommending them very highly for house sitting and will certainly be using them again.
