Premier Inn Sandling Maidstone Hotel Review

We booked the Premier Inn Sandling to visit relatives who live in Larkfield, Kent. They had recommended this particular Premier Inn due to its location right next to the River Medway.

Welcome and booking in at the Premier Inn Sandling

We had booked via the Premier Inn Website and when we arrived we were met by Sue at the reception. She was really helpful and had a great sense of humour which was just what we needed after a long trip and tackling the M25!

Our room at the Premier Inn Sandling

We were travelling with my sister and Dad and we were all allocated rooms together on the first floor.

Our first impressions were good, it was a very spacious room that was spotlessly clean. There was a large TV on the wall with lots of channels to browse. The wardrobe was open plan, had sufficient room, with shelving on both sides and a really bright mirror to the side. There were plenty of plug sockets in the room too.

Our room No 37

There is not a fridge in the room, but there was a kettle with complimentary tea and coffee. There are never enough of the little milks but housekeeping were very helpful and replenished as needed. There was also a bottle opener on the wall.

The bed was so comfortable, it is true what they say, a good night sleep is guaranteed, we slept so well here. The bedding was high quality, there were extra pillows if needed and an option of another lighter sheet if you were too hot. There is not air conditioning in the room, however a fan and a heater were available.

We certainly did get a goods night sleep!

The bathroom was decent size with a bath and a shower. Body wash and shampoo were also provided.

All in all we were impressed with the room, so check out our video and we will take you for a look around!

Note there is no lift at this hotel so if you have mobility issues make sure you request a room on the ground floor.

Location of the Premier Inn Sandling

Canal boats on the River Medway

For us the location was ideal as only a short drive to Larkfield where our Aunt and Uncle, Marg and Mick live. It is also in walking distance of Maidstone by following the River Medway for 30 minutes. Boat trips are only on the weekend, which was a shame as we were there mid week, so if that’s what you would like to do then do plan your trip accordingly.

Long boat and garden outside the Malta Inn

It was lovely walking along the river bank looking at all the long boats and their gardens, it seemed a lovely little community of boats as far as the eye could see.

Great Location on the River Medway

There are two very similar Premier Inns as we know well from a previous visit due to booking the wrong one! This is the Premier Inn Sandling Maidstone, and the other one is the Maidstone Allington hotel so just be careful when you book that you have selected the right one. The reason we prefer the Premier Inn Sandling is due to it’s riverside position.

The Malta Inn next to the Premier Inn Sandling

The Malta Inn is right by the side of the entrance to the Premier Inn Sandling. It is part of the Beefeater chain, and in comparison to other similar chains in the area it was expensive. However we did have a good meal here with lovely views out to the river. There is also a large beer garden to use. If you would like to have a look you can access their menu here.

Free Wi-Fi at the Premier Inn Sandling

The website states that there is free unlimited Wi-Fi however in reality the signal was not good and kept turning off. There was an option to pay however there was a charge of £5 per day which we chose not too. There was better Wi-Fi at the Malta Inn but only as long as you were inside and close to the bar! This was disappointing but didn’t spoil our stay, however if this is essential to you then you may need to consider this.

Our verdict of the Premier Inn Sandling

Overall we were pleased with our stay at the Premier Inn Sandling, the only criticism we have is that the WiFi was dreadful. This hotel is in an excellent location, rooms are really comfortable and perfect for a short break.

Dad and I

Paul and I are very lucky to have lovely families and we had such a perfect time. It just goes to show that material things are nice but quality time with your loved ones are more precious. We look forward to visiting again and would happily stay at the Premier Inn Sandling.
