Marella Voyager Entertainment Guide
AD This post is sponsored by Marella Cruises
As we are sure you know we are big fans of Marella cruises and one of the reasons for this is their entertainment. It’s fair to say that there is never a dull moment on a Marella cruise.
In this post we highlight the entertainment we experienced on our recent cruise on Marella’s newest cruise ship Marella Voyager. We cover every venue where entertainment takes place and what type of entertainment you can expect to see there.
Once you have read this review do check out our Marella Cruises and TUI River Cruises Page where you can find lots more information.
The Entertainers
For anyone who is new to Marella cruises this is what you can expect from the entertainment’s team whilst on board.
On our cruise the Cruise Director was Jonny Ryley who is in charge of the whole entertainments team. His busy role includes daily announcements via his morning TV show cruise director TV, introducing the theatre acts and guest artists, hosting game shows and he even has his own cabaret show.
The Entertainments Hosts are always visible around the ship and are in charge of quizzes, game shows, exercise classes, bingo, arts and crafts and much more.
The Show Team are the team responsible for the theatre production shows and consists of 6 singers and 4 dancers.
On our cruise there was also a number of Musical Artists that performed in the entertainment venues around the ship. They were, Georgia Pepper – singer/pianist, Peter Coxx – singer/guitarist, Waves Duo – singer and piano player, The Jones – guitarists and percussion and 4 Tunes the resident house band.
On Marella cruises they are also Guest Artists that perform in the Broadway Show lounge which we detail below.
The Electric Rooms Deck 12
This multipurpose lounge is exclusive to the Marella Voyager and is definitely one of our favourite places on the ship. Things start early in the morning in the Electric Rooms with exercise and wellness classes including Yogalates, 80’s Dance fit, Sunrise Stretch, Zumba and Meditation classes.
From early afternoon you will find family discos, live easy listening music, and the ever popular family silent disco. As the sun sets the Electric Rooms transform into a funky night club.
There are sets from one of the aforementioned music artists, a late night disco and of course the hilarious silent disco. If you have never been to one you are really missing out!
The Summer House Deck 11
The title perfectly sums up this venue, garden style wicker furniture with a privet style hedge adorning the stage area. Live music takes place here throughout the day from early afternoon right through until late.
What makes this venue even better is that its got a fully retractable roof giving it the summer garden party vibe. We had a fabulous afternoon here enjoying one of Peter Coxx’s reggae sets bathed in the sunshine.
The Pool Deck Deck 11
The pool deck on Marella Voyager is always a hive of activity from morning trivia, quizgo bingo and aqua fit classes. There are also mini golf tournaments, emoji quizzes and cocktail mixology classes and no pool party would be complete without some live party tunes.
If you are more of a night owl then you will definitely love moonlight movies where you can wrap up warm in the provided blankets and watch some of your favourite films.
A feature we really liked which we haven’t seen on any other cruise line is scheduled quiet times when you can simply relax on your sunbed, read a book or just do nothing.

Book Your Cruise Here Now
Remember Marella are All Inclusive and include Flights, Transfers and Tips. No hidden costs unlike other cruise lines!
The Exchange Deck 8
The Exchange is Marella Voyagers speakeasy, open nightly the entertainment comes courtesy of some of the amazing entertainment host’s. Smooth jazz with a modern twist is the order of the day and is a first come first served basis, so once its full its full. However on selected nights (usually twice per cruise) there is a secret event that is invitation only.
To book one of these exclusive events you can go to the cruise control section online or via the Destination Experiences found next to reception on deck 5 once you’ve boarded the cruise. Each event costs £14.95 but does include 3 cocktails that are only available in the Exchange. This is the only entertainment venue that comes at an extra cost but in our opinion is worth every penny.
There are two different shows available, The Lock In and Heist. On the night of your selected show a card is delivered to your cabin with a secret code on and tells you what time to arrive. You then enter the bright red old school telephone boxes and use the phone to speak to the operator. You will then be asked a series of questions to make sure you are who you say you are, then enter the secret code and your in.
The shows are just a mad mix of music and comedy all done in a speakeasy style, we thought it was fabulous and would highly recommend it!
Squid and Anchor Deck 7
The Squid and Anchor is Marella’s British pub at sea, if you think there are loads going on on the pool deck then this place will blow your mind.
To start there are a plethora of quizzes and game shows ranging from music quizzes to the aptly named toughest quiz of the cruise (we got 3 out of 10 and came second) it was tough. Then there are all your favourite TV game shows, say what you see, our survey said, whats on the box and the marriage game to name but a few.
There was also the Captains meet and greet which is always a firm favourite on every cruise. Cruise directors cabaret with Jonny, enrichment talks, which on our cruise was Jenny Ryan from the chase which was fascinating and a meet and greet with Boyzlife.
The music in the Squid and Anchor comes courtesy of the incredibly talented house band the 4 Tunes from the fifties up to current chart music they’ve got you covered.
This is also the place for Band Jam where all the musical artists from around the ship come together to form a supergroup, this is an absolute must see, so make sure you check your daily program to ensure you don’t miss out.
And of course there is always Bingo!
The Broadway Show Lounge Decks 7&6
The Broadway Show Lounge on Marella Voyager is a fabulous 900 seater theatre that really makes you feel like you are in the West End or even Broadway (see what i did there!).
During our 7 night cruise we were treated to 4 production shows, and from our experience we don’t know of any other cruise line that would pack so many production shows in such a short period.
We experienced the following shows.
Summer of love. The first production show of the cruise is always the one we watch with trepidation as it sets the bar for everything that follows. A group of young musicians embark on a road trip in a classic VW camper to play their very first festival. Iconic songs from the flower power era ensue with classics from the likes of the Beatles and the Mamas and the Papas to name but a few. A great first show that was every bit as good as we had hoped it would be!
Havana Nights. If pumping Latin beats, amazing costumes and spectacular dancing are your cup of tea then this fabulous show, heavily featuring the resident professional dancers will definitely be right up your street. Songs from Ricky Martin, The Gibson Brothers and the Miami Sound Machine make it impossible to sit still in your seats, when you watch this show you will definitely be Livin la vida loca.
Movies of the Musicals. This show does exactly what it says on the tin, all your favourites are here from Mama Mia, Grease, Little Shop of Horrors and Evita. No musical show would be complete without songs from the best musical of the modern day era, the Greatest Showman finally was an absolute banger, it is fair to say we didn’t want this show to end!
Rock Rebels. All the gods of rock are out in force for this high octane rock show, all the usual suspects are here from AC/DC and Led Zeppelin to Queen and Pat Benatar you’ll be dusting off your air guitar and banging your head until it almost falls off. If this show doesn’t get you stomping your feet then nothing will!
On non production show nights the Broadway Show lounge makes way for guest acts which on our cruise was Sammy Lomax, a fabulous Dusty Springfield tribute.
Martin Daniels, the son of British Magician Paul Daniels is the consummate all rounder, singer, magician, comedian he really has got it all.
The final guest act of the cruise was Boyzlife, featuring Boyzone’s Keith Duffy and Westlife’s Brian Mcfadden with an absolute ton of top 10 hits between them. They had the whole theatre dancing in the aisles.
The Arts House Deck 6
The Arts House is another multi-purpose lounge. This is a great venue for live music throughout the day and deep into the evening, but it’s not all about the music. The Arts House also features quilling the art of rolling and shaping paper before glueing it to a canvas to create decorative designs (yes I had to google it) life drawing, watercolour classes, origami and the biggest shuffleboard table we’ve ever seen.
The Cinema Deck 6
With screenings starting from 10 am through to early evening showing, the cinema shows films from the latest releases to classics. If you are a movie buff this is definitely a welcome addition to the Marella fleet.
Flutes Deck 5
Flutes is the perfect place for a pre or post dinner drink, entertainment comes in the form of live smooth easy listening music throughout the evening which is perfect for this venue that just oozes class. You can get up close and personal with the entertainment in the bar area, or if watching from afar is more your thing, there is a beautiful balcony area that overlooks the whole venue.
The Atrium
The Atrium is the final venue on the entertainment list and we were very surprised by how much went on here, from cocktail parties to late night easy listening tunes, dance classes, and even a murder mystery.
The duel in the Atrium’s crown is definitely the strictly style gala that comes courtesy of the resident professional dancers, if you love dancing this show is not to be missed.
Entertainment is one of the many reasons we love to cruise with Marella, and we are sure you will agree after reading this post, that Marella cruises really have got something for everyone.
