Which are the best hotels for a pre cruise stay in Southampton?

Southampton is the cruise capital of England and a city that we love to visit. We always recommend that if you travelling from afar then arriving the day before is always a sensible idea. A pre cruise stay in a hotel takes the stress out of worrying that you are going to be late to board the ship.

In this post we will show you a selection of Southampton hotels that we have stayed in prior to joining a cruise ship or when we have just been just enjoying a break in this fabulous city.

You can also find some great places to eat in our video here!

To compliment this post, when you have decided which hotel is for you, we recommend you also read Cruise Mummy’s Southampton Cruise Parking post too. You will then have all the information you need for a stress free start to your cruise holiday!

What hotels are close to the cruise terminals in Southampton?

Premier Inn, Westquay

Looking for a hotel in Southampton close to the cruise terminals and city centre? Then do check out our room review of the Premier Inn in Southampton post it’s refit!

Conveniently situated next to West quay it is in a prime location for all the cruise terminals – City Cruise, Mayflower, Horizon, Ocean and QE2 Terminal.

If you want to enjoy a night out in Southampton too it is within a short walking distance of the high street and plenty of restaurants and bars.

We stayed at the Premier Inn in Southampton before our P&O Aurora Cruise in May 2024 and it cost £93 for the room.

Novotel Hotel, Southampton

We stayed at the Novotel Hotel for a nights stay before our cruise on Cunard Queen Mary 2. Situated close to the Mayflower Terminal and in easy reach of the centre too. Find out if we thought this is a good hotel for a pre or post cruise stay in Southampton.

Holiday Inn, Herbert Walker Avenue, Southampton

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn many times with their cruise and park packages. In this video we show you an executive room that has views of the cruise terminal. Check out our room tour and review to see what we thought!

Moxy Hotel, West Quay, Southampton

We stayed at the Moxy Hotel in West Quay Southampton before we joined the MSC Virtuosa Cruise Ship. In this video review we show you the hotel facilities and take you for a tour of the room. It was a great choice within walking distance of the City Cruise Terminal and not far from the other cruise terminals in Southampton too.

We stayed at the Leonardo Royal Southampton Grand Harbour Hotel before we joined the Crown Princess Cruise Ship for a visit. This Southampton hotel is in a prime location and we really enjoyed our stay. It is mid budget, and great for a treat.
